C AIRP’s success can be attributed to the many members who give unselfishly of their time, energy and expertise to advance the interests of CAIRP, its members and the insolvency profession. To recognize the outstanding achievements, contributions, and dedica- tion of individual members, CAIRP’s Honours and Awards Nominating Committee (HANC) administers four awards. HANC needs your help to identify and nominate worthy members for the awards. Nomination forms for the 2019 awards are now available on the CAIRP website and the nomination deadline is fast approaching – March 31, 2019! The following provides a brief overview of the criteria for the awards and introduces you to the 2018 award recipients. Please consider submitting a nomination for the outstanding member you know. THE OUTSTANDING VOLUNTEER AWARD The Outstanding Volunteer Award (OVA) was established by the Executive Committee in 2008. The OVA recognizes individuals who have provided exemplary service to CAIRP. The recipient(s) may be recognized for their collected list of activities over several years, or, for their service related to one particular activity. Last year, CAIRP recognized three individuals whose contributions were deserving of special acknowledgement: André Bolduc, Matthew Golding and Colleen Craig. André has been and continues to be an active member of CAIRP. He currently chairs the Consumer Practice Committee and is a past CAIRP Board member, serving on the Board for four years. He also Chaired the Consumer Advocacy Task Force while helping author and edit the CAIRP Discussion Paper for Legislative change. André is always demonstrating a willingness to roll up his sleeves and contribute positively to any committee he is asked to be a part of! You may have noticed Matthew Golding at many CAIRP and charity events over the years with his signature bowtie. Matt has been active on the NSAIRP Board, the New Members Committee, and the Forums Committee, to name a few. This past year, he did double duty working with the 2018 Forums Committee and the 2018 Annual Conference Committee. CAIRP Honours and Awards In addition, he has worked tirelessly for the Canadian Prostate Cancer Society. Considering Matt has a young family and a busy career with significant competing demands on his time, his commitment to CAIRP is impressive! Colleen Craig has actively participated on many CAIRP committees. Although not an exhaustive list, her contributions include membership on the CAIRP Board of Directors, the BCAIRP Board, the Small Practice Committee and more than one Annual Conference Committee. Colleen currently Chairs the Professional Conduct Committee. In addition to her volunteerism for CAIRP, Colleen has been a Board member and Treasurer of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Victoria and is currently President of the Shaw Ocean Discovery Centre. Her availability when called upon and her “all in” attitude make her a highly valued and appreciated CAIRP volunteer!
