Mark Denney of WCS Bridgeforce closed our conference presentations discussing something we all need to deal with – succession planning – as our businesses are now transfer- ring over to the next generation. Beyond the sessions, attendees had consider- able opportunity to network with each other – to share ideas and develop new business rela- tionships. The Sunday evening reception at the Niagara Brewing Company had a great turnout which set a highly collegial mood for the rest of the conference. And Monday night’s recep- tion at the Hard Rock Club, hosted by Ogilvy Insurance, was so much fun that the staff had to work to get us to leave! Our popular Annual Awards Dinner was once again a large gathering of friends and colleagues honouring deserving members of the moving industry. Distinguished Service – Doug Kellough, retired, Salmon’s Transfer The Distinguished Service Award recognizes a prominent member of the moving profession who exemplifies the stan- dards that CAM promotes; serves as a positive role model; has demonstrated leadership, commitment and integrity; and has made significant contributions to the Canadian moving industry, especially, in Doug’s case, to CAM. Industry Achievement – John Bandstra, retired, Bandstra Moving The Industry Achievement Award honours a pioneering member of the moving industry who has had a long career of outstanding contribution to and impact on the moving profes- sion; has demonstrated innovation and leadership; has raised the profile and performance of the industry, and promoted quality and integrity by example; and has served as a mentor to others in the profession. John is the finest example of these qualities. Public Service – Financial Crimes Unit, Toronto Police The Public Service Award is the moving industry’s recogni- tion of a significant act that serves the public interest. Over the past two years, the FCU worked tirelessly to locate almost à optimiser notre retour sur investissement sur les réseaux sociaux tandis que Stephen Cryne, président du CERC, nous a informés relativement au profil des Canadiens qui déménagent. Sandra Crozier-McGee a clôturé notre première journée de présentations en expliquant à quel point une bonne politique de Ressources Humaines est essentielle afin de pouvoir contrôler la consommation de cannabis de nos employés sur tous les lieux de travail. Le mardi, Scott Michael, président de l’AMSA, a débuté la journée en nous informant sur les différentes tendances aux États-Unis et sur la situation générale de l’industrie du déménagement de ce pays. Mark Denney de WCS Bridgeforce a clôturé les exposés de notre conférence en discutant d'une question à laquelle nous sommes tous confrontés, à savoir la planification de la relève, et ce, au moment où nos entreprises sont maintenant transférées à la génération suivante. Au-delà des sessions, les participants ont eu beaucoup d’opportunités d’effectuer du réseautage, de nouer de nouveaux contacts, d’échanger des idées et de développer de nouvelles relations d’affaires. La réception du dimanche soir à la Niagara Brewing Company a connu un taux de participation élevé, ce qui a contribué à créer une ambiance propice à la collégialité pour le reste de la conférence. Et la réception du lundi soir au Hard Rock Club, organisée par Ogilvy Insurance, était tellement amusante et plaisante que le personnel sur place a dû s’efforcer de nous convaincre de quitter!
