10 ROOFING CANADA FALL/WINTER 2018 EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE implementation of prompt payment and adjudication legislation on federal construction projects. CRCA and the National Trade Contractors Coalition of Canada hope to see action by the end of 2018. CRCA also received some very good news in August from the Red Seal Secretariat and the Canadian Council of the Directors of Apprenticeship (CCDA). Although it’s yet to be made official, the roofer trade has been added to the Secretariat’s work plan to harmonize the trade across Canada. The roofer trade national harmonization will be included in Phase 6 of the Secretariat’s harmonization plan and will be scheduled to start in the spring of 2019, with implementation targeted for 2021. National harmonization for the roofer trade will involve the use of a common Red Seal trade name across Canada; consistent total training hours (in-school and on-the-job); same number of training levels; and a more consistent sequencing of training content (at each training level – while in school) using the most recent National Occupational Analyses (NOA). Harmonization will also see the Roofer NOA (National Occupational Analyses) replaced with a new Red Seal Occupational Standard or RSOS. In closing, I would like to remind you that CRCA’s 2019 Conference and AGM will take place in Montreal on April 13 to 15, 2019, followed by ROOFTech, which will take place at the city’s Palais des Congrès on April 16 to 17, 2019. un ensemble de recom- mandations pour la mise en œuvre d’une législation sur le paiement rapide et l’arbitrage dans les projets de construc- tion fédéraux. • Millions of sq ft installed worldwide • Local LiveRoof experts and production facilities • Extensive selection of plant options • Comprehensive warranty coverages • Highest wind uplift rating of any system tested • LiveRoof makes design, installation and liveroof.com/roofcanmag Code #ROOFCAN18 (800) 875-1392 REQUEST YOUR FREE GUIDE Horticultural Experts Creating Biodiverse Green Roofs Free • Millions of sq ft installed worldwide • Local LiveRoof experts and production facilities GREEN ROOF DESIGN GUIDE across Canada under CAN/CSA A123.24-15 ownership simple and secure
