The NACCA highlighted key opportunities for enhancing First Nations capacity on social innovation and social finance and how the NACCAs role as a delivery partner, with its network of Aboriginal Financial Institutions (AFIs), will serve to facilitate program distribution of the Investment Readiness Program (IRP), scheduled for the fall of 2019.Some First Nations participants spoke on practices that have been long-established and sustained in their First Nationswhich some may call a social innovation today. In addition to collecting information on social innovation and social finance and making the AFNs findings available for First Nations use, the AFN is also to prepare a paper/framework on social innovation and social finance. This work will consist of a literature review, environmental scan, cost-benefit analysis and legal context to form the basis of this work developed with First Nations, for First Nations.
