CALGARY REGION COMMITTEE “The CERC Calgary Region Committee is very active and enjoys strong support from the CERC membership in the area,” offers committee chair Teri-Ann Bégin, of RE/MAX Real Estate (Central). In order to deliver information session topics that are of interest to all its members, the Calgary Region Committee is comprised of both corporate and service representa- tives, approximately equally divided. Its recent sessions included an Expatriate Panel Discussion held on April 26, and a Stampede Breakfast at The Ranchmen’s Club on July 5. It will also hold a session on Business Travellers on November 1 and a Christmas Mixer on December 6. “CERC members and anyone with an interest in relocation are welcome to attend our sessions,” says Bégin. “We look forward to seeing you!” Calgary Regional Committee members include: Barry Byman, AMJ Campbell Calgary; Lori Campbell, Suncor Energy Inc.; Holly Macfarlane, Chevron Canada; Roy Phelps, QMM Moving; Valerie Pocock, Enbridge Inc. CAPITAL REGION COMMITTEE & EASTERN REGION COMMITTEE Although there are no official reports from the Capital and Eastern Region Committees at this time, CERC works directly with key industry personnel to schedule events in both regions. CERC hosted a cocktail reception at the end of April in Montreal’s newly- renovated Fairmont-Queen Elizabeth Hotel, which will also be the locale of its annual confer- ence in September, and on April 17 the association held a timely and important information session on Canada’s Changing Immigration Landscape in Ottawa. The session focused on recent legislative changes tied to immigration and what they mean for businesses involved in relocation. Christophersen is proud of the important events, both past and present, that CERC is able to hold throughout the country thanks to the hard work of its regional committees and encourages all CERC members to volunteer on a committee in their area. In particular, the association is looking for more people to get involved in its Capital Region and Eastern Region committees, located in Ottawa and Montreal respectively. Not only does this present a great opportunity to give back to the industry, it delivers tremendous rewards, both professional and personal, to all those who step up to the plate. The regional committees are able to specifically address the needs and concerns of relocation professionals unique to their respective geographies PACIFIC REGION COMMITTEE “We have a great committee working together and are looking forward to a successful year,” says Pacific Region Committee chair Tim Nager, president and COO of Quality Move Management. Most recently, the Pacific Region Committee worked on a plan for 2018 where it refocused on the commit- tee’s mission, which includes looking at change and diversity, building CERC membership, increasing attendance at events and bringing in new ideas. In terms of events, the committee hosted a successful mixer on February 1, pulling in 50 attendees, followed by an Expat and Transferee panel discussion on May 9. The panel examined the successes and challenges that come with being an international expat or transferee, with participants sharing their diverse experi- ences and providing both corporate and service partners with valu- able insight and key strategies on improving services. Pacific Regional Committee members include: Evan Slade, Level Furnished Living; John Demetri, Deloitte; Jeanette Bowers, MDA Corporation; Stephanie Shaw, Teck Resources; Kevin Dixon, Amazon.
