Over the past year, CERC has been working closely with the Canadian government in providing recommendations to improve the mobility of professionals and business travellers under NAFTA. At the time of writing, the outcomes of the negotiations remain completely up in the air. Even the most optimistic people I have come to know involved in the negotiations are at a loss, and with the best intentions in the world the discussions have been derailed by other ‘disruptive’ factors. As the CERC family gathers once again for our national confer- ence, I would like to extend a thank you to those members who have served on the CERC Board and have now completed their terms as directors. Tricia Cochran has served on the board since 2011, most recently as past board chair. Tricia epitomizes the spirit of volunteerism with her ‘can do’ attitude and passion. Also completing their board terms at this time are Stephen Green, Rob Stone and Dan Lawrence. Each has made a significant and lasting contribution to CERC’s journey. Fred Haladay will complete his term as chair of the CERC Board in September and will now assume the role of past chair. Fred has been a tour de force over the past year, helping the board steer through a strategic planning exercise at a critical juncture in the organization’s history. I am very much looking forward to working with Troy Pariag of IBM Canada, who takes over the reins as board chair in September. To all our members who have contributed time, energy and passion over the past year, thank you. The accomplishments of CERC would not be possible without your support. Best wishes for a great conference!
