In attendance were more than 150 members and guests who heard a keynote address by Peter Hall, CEO of econosphere inc., on the state of the economy and the construction industry in the GTA, as well as reports on the accomplishments and financial health of TCA. The Best of the Best Awards were also given to TCA members who excelled in 2025. Chair Ed Applebaum welcomed those present and reviewed the agenda for the meeting. CEO John Mollenhauer noted in his report that 2025 was an interesting year for the construction 158TH TCA ANNUAL MEETING industry – one that continued to be filled with uncertainty. This year was significantly different than the previous boom years the construction industry was used to. However, TCA continues to focus on three major priorities for the association: continuing work to deal with the labour shortage, increasing the number of women in the construction industry and showcasing new technologies. Derek Chan of Hillborn LLP went through the TCA financials for 2025, which were a “clean opinion” in every respect. Chair Applebaum then took the attending members through the approval of the 2025 financial statements, Board of Directors and auditors (Hillborn LLP). The keynote speaker Peter Hall summarized the economic situation by saying, “With the world economy changing rapidly and confidence in forecasting at a perilously low point, planning for the future is… complicated. There is currently little investor confidence to move forward, especially with strife occurring in many parts of the world.” In closing, chair Applebaum acknowledged the hard work and commitment of the board and TCA staff during a challenging year. He also introduced the 2026 Board of Directors including the new chair Robert Riopelle of Smith & Long. Outgoing chair Applebaum was then presented with a painting to thank him for his dedication to TCA. 10 Quarter 1 2026 BUILDERSDIGEST TCA NEWS
