NEW MEMBERS WCA hosts CCA luncheon We were pleased to host a luncheon event on October 17 that saw Zey Emir, Canadian Construction Association Chair, drop by our office for a meeting with almost 50 industry members, including the WCA Board, representatives from Manitoba Heavy Construction Association, government representatives, owners and members of the design community. The luncheon, which doubled as the monthly WCA Board meeting, led to a productive discussion and gave local industry members the chance to express some thoughts on trends they’ve been seeing in Manitoba to CCA. About 70 members were on hand at Nonsuch Brewing Co., where the brewery staff explained a number of different craft beers to the group. Guests also enjoyed catering from Miss Browns while they caught up with friends and colleagues before the busy holiday season. It was a great chance to celebrate YCLM’s busiest year yet – 2018 saw the group host 20 events, including fun events like a game of pickup hockey and a trip to an escape room to go along with its usual site tours and lunch and learns. YCLM would like to extend a big thank-you to Number TEN Architectural Group – the holiday event wouldn’t have been possible without their generous sponsorship.
