AFN AGA compromise the process. Others called for the complete halt of the framework, feeling that the process was the begin- ning of eliminating the inherent rights of Indigenous peoples. Debate was raised between Deputy Grand Chief Gordon Peters of A.I.A.I. and representatives from British Columbia, with both calling for changes in the resolution. Once the resolution was amended, other Chiefs, of their respective nations, brought up their concerns on opting in or out of the process, after which the vote was cast. Over 40 votes were given to pass the resolution, which were more than those that opposed it. Overall, the Assembly was well received with many satisfied with the 39th AFN Annual General Assembly. Chiefs voiced how they are looking forward to the following years, with many agreeing that the only way forward was with a show of solidarity and unity among our people.   For additional informmation, please visit www.uottawa.ca/indigenous Phone: (613) 562-5800 Ex. 2496 Email: arc-cra@uOttawa.ca Mashkawazìwogamig, or “place of strength,” offers Indigenous students at the University of Ottawa cultural and academic support during their studies.
