By maximizing our community strengths, Indigenous Institutes are able to differentiate ourselves within the post-secondary sector. FNTI’s Role A First Nation owned and governed post-secondary educational institute, FNTI specializes in delivering comprehensive academic and aviation programming. For 33 years, FNTI has played an essential role in making post-secondary education relevant and accessible for Indigenous learners and communities in Ontario and Canada. Our vision sets the stage for transformative educational experiences. Every class is supported by a faculty member, cultural advisor and student success facilitator. Our facilitators build relationships with learners to ensure success and to help overcome challenges. Cultural advisors lead circle and ceremony, promote healing and offer one-on-one discussions. Our commitment to the learning process includes: • The presence and guidance of Elders/Cultural Advisors • Intensive Delivery Mode – classes approximately one week per month – students maintain employment and commitments to family and community • Ontario-wide locations, providing easier access to community members • Inclusive education through sharing, healing circles, traditional skills-building and culture camp • Friendly learning methodologies • Exposure to innovators, professionals, keynote speakers, community representatives, and alumni #ResponsiveEducation Every community should be involved in post-secondary planing and delivery. FNTI has served 99 of 126 First Nations in Ontario. Currently, we offer 12 post-secondary programs, with new programs and collaborations under development. Where possible, we employ local cultural advisors and facilitators, which supports community, and grows employment, skills and experience. FNTI has over 3,000 graduates with certificate, diploma and degree credentials, issued in partnership with Ontario colleges and universities, and has trained pilots from coast- coast-coast. FNTI is currently holding programs in Tyendinaga, Apitisawan/Cochrane, Rama/Orillia, Walpole Island, Peterborough, Toronto/GTA and London. Need pre-requisites for admission?
