17 Issue 4 Winter Edition 2017 UPWORD FOREWORD Manitoba Building Expo The Victoria Inn and Conference Centre was the industry hot spot on October 17 for the fifth annual Manitoba Building Expo. The Expo combined a trade show/product expo, educational seminars and both a breakfast panel session and keynote luncheon. Trade Show The day-long trade show served as the premier showcase for all the latest products and technologies for commercial and institutional buildings and was an excellent learning and networking opportunity for industry professionals. Breakfast Session A panel featuring experts in sustainable building and construction opened the Manitoba Building Expo with a discussion on new ways to go green. Moderator Colleen Kuruluk, Manager of Power Smart Programs at Manitoba Hydro, led the group that consisted of: Doug Corbett, Principal, Corbett Architecture; Rodney McDonald, Principal and Practice Leader, Avison Young; and Alfred Schleier, Director, Business Development, PCL Constructors Canada, through a discussion on the newest sustainable features in today’s high-performance buildings.
