Infrastructure spending, project labour agreements, COR requirements for contractors and prompt payment were on the agenda as representatives from the WCA met with Infrastructure Minister Ron Schuler in early November at the Manitoba Legislature. “Advocacy is one of the pillars of the WCA, and we want to be sure the Minister is aware of the issues impacting the industry, and how the government might be able to help through streamlining its regulations and investing more in building significant projects,” explained WCA President Ron Hambley. The Minister outlined how the government hopes to work closely with the construction industry to find ways to build and maintain infrastructure more efficiently, and redirect those savings into additional projects.
