THIS YEAR’S CONSTRUCT CANADA TRADE SHOW, PART OF The Buildings Show (TBS), took place November 29 to December 1 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, located in the heart of downtown Toronto. TBS is the largest building- and construction-related trade show in Canada, and one of the largest in North America, and its importance to the country’s construction professionals cannot be overstated. Overall attendance this year was on a par with last year at around 30,000, and some 1,600 Canadian, U.S. and international exhibitors staffed booths in both the south and north exhibition halls of the convention centre. This year, CONSTRUCT CANADA the information and education program featured 500 speakers and more than 350 seminars, keynotes, summits and roundtables covering design, construc- tion and project management. On the trade show floor, exhibitors who spoke with Builders’ Digest said that attendance and interest were robust, an assessment echoed by show veterans such as Stantec, which has exhibited at Construct Canada from the start. “The attendance at our booth has been great,” said Bob Robinson, a principal with the company. “We’ve been getting very good levels of attention – and it’s always great to see all the familiar faces who’ve dropped by in previous years.” SHOW BUSINESS BY ANDREW BROOKS Another successful year for Construct Canada as the show braces for big changes ahead 8 | Builders' Digest Quarter 4 2017
