accommodating more exhibitors and allowing for a more diverse range of floor activities. There will also be room for the addition of the Stonex Canada stone, tile and ceramic show, which premiered in May as a standalone event. “We’re going to take World of Concrete and HomeBuilder & Reno and move them into the North Building, along with Stonex, which will allow Construct Canada and PM Expo to grow,” says Milani. “It’s a big change, but it makes a lot of sense from our perspective.” That new look will mean more lounge space, more on-floor educational events at exhibitor booths, and more interactive demos like this year’s Carpenters in Action, a live demonstra- tion that spanned all three days of the event and showcased specialties such as floor covering and design, shingling and roofing, and brick and stone techniques. A greater diversity of show floor activities will increase attendee engagement, Milani says. “We want the show to become more interactive, to adjust to changing demographics in the industry. It’s an opportunity for growth in all sectors, and it will allow us to change the whole look and feel of the floor.” In particular, a broader range of activities will enable attendees to get a stronger sense of the interdisciplinary nature of the construction industry. The next Construct Canada will take place November 28 to November 30, 2018 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. |BD CONSTRUCT CANADA 12 | Builders' Digest Quarter 4 2017
