CANADA GAMES Provincials and place fourth at U17 Nationals in Napanee, Ont., and earned All-Star Centre Fielder honours with the Ochapowace Thunder U23 team at the Canadian Native Fastball Championships. One of the greatest highlights of Gunner’s young career came when he was selected to represent Team Saskatchewan’s U20 men’s softball team at the Canada Games in St. John’s. Competing as one of the youngest players on the roster, Gunner stepped onto the national stage against the strongest athletes in the country, gaining elite-level experience, show- casing his speed and defensive skill, and proudly representing Cowessess First Nation on a platform few athletes ever reach. The Canada Games strengthened his confidence, expanded his competitive mindset and fuelled his determination to keep growing in the sport he loves. Currently a member of the Tommy Douglas Collegiate Softball Academy in Saskatoon and a talented singer and guitarist, Gunner continues to balance high-level athletics with music and community leadership. With every performance and every game, he represents his Nation with pride, inspiring Indigenous youth through his commitment, discipline and passion for both sport and music. TEGAN NAHNEPOWISK Tegan Nahnepowisk is a 19-year-old athlete from Piapot First Nation who proudly represented Team Saskatchewan’s men’s U20 softball team at the 2025 Canada Games. He grew up playing for the Piapot Eagles men’s softball team, where his passion for the game was first developed, and continued to hone his skills with various competitive teams in and around Regina, Sask. Over the years, Tegan has built a strong reputation as a committed and hardworking player who brings consistency, focus and team-first leadership to the field. Alongside his softball career, Tegan is also an avid hockey player, balancing both sports from a young age. His multi-sport background has played a key role in shaping his athleticism, work ethic and competitive drive. Proud of his roots and the communi- ties he represents, Tegan continues to pursue excellence while carrying forward the values of dedication, resilience and pride instilled in him throughout his journey.
