THE BUILDINGS SHOW IS RETURNING FOR ITS 30TH YEAR THIS fall, with plans to mark its pearl anniver- sary with one of the biggest outings yet. Running November 28-30 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, the 2018 edition of The Buildings Show will once again unite Construct Canada, PM Expo, STONEX Canada, World of Concrete, and the HomeBuilder & Renovator Expo undertworoofsforaneventthatpromises to expand upon what has already become North America’s premier construction industry exposition. “This is a significant anniversary for theeventandwearemakingbigchanges to take us into the next 30 years,” says Nancy Milani, vice president of global exhibitions for Informa, organizers of the show. “There will be more things to see, more people to meet, and more floor space to offer unique experiences through a host of floor activations and live demonstration areas.” The show is expected to welcome more than 30,000 guests through its doors and will feature over 1,600 exhibitors from all corners of the architectural, construction, design, engineering, property, and renovation fields. It will be split between two connected venues: the North Building, featuring the Home- Builder & Renovator Expo, STONEX Canada and World of Concrete, and the South Building, home to the PM Expo and Construct Canada, the show that started it all. Together, these partners will offer over 150 seminars, demos, and roundtable discussions throughout the three-day event. Presentation topics for 2018 will range from new products and technolo- gies, industry headwinds, sustainable design, smart building trends, project management, regulatory updates, and virtually everything in between. “The construction industry is changing as companies learn how to work within the Construction Act, inte- grate new technology and innovation, and deal with labour shortages,” says Milani. “This year, our speakers will discuss some best practices and guides on how to succeed in adjudication under the Construction Act, as well as learn about innovative technologies and systems in construction that are changing the way we work onsite and how new strategic partnerships are developing the next generation of smart building solutions.” Workforce training and develop- ment will also be a focus. The show will host presentations tackling talent recruitment and retention, as well as seminars that attendees can join to earn continuing education credits.
