This is allowing the project teams to collaborate in a way which was never possible in the past.” BIM’s viability is owed to the rise of sophisticated systems that can build accurate models with disparate sources of data. Even so, Thompson believes more can be done to promote its benefits and dispel misconceptions: “When people hear the term BIM, many consider it to only apply to buildings.
