Interest in all three events was keen, as we had 90 registrants at the AGM, 120 for lunch and 480 at the party. Special thanks to the Entertainment Committee, staff and volunteers for making the weekend a great success. The Parq is an exciting new venue for our events, and although we experienced first-hand the impact of B.C.’s tight labour market, we look forward to the next three years downtown. I would like to congratulate all of the award winners including 25 year member, Pabco Roofing Products, and 10 year members, Mack Kirk Roofing & Sheet Metal Ltd., Trail Roofing, ROCKWOOL and Pacific Roof Centre. Congratulations to Monty Klein on his retirement from IRC Building Science and election to the RCABC Honorary Council. Over the years Monty has volunteered his time on the committee level, serving on the Technical and Inspection Committees and has been a champion of RCABC in the marketplace. Looking to 2019, the RCABC Board has asked staff to develop a 15-year guarantee, create a new advertising plan to promote members and RCABC services in their home communities (see the RCABC ad on page 31) and continue to revise and update the Roofing Practices Manual. We will continue our industry outreach on behalf of our members and provide training and educational opportunities to our stakeholders. We have plans to recruit people into the trade through BC Corrections, high schools and other special programs, spotlighting the industry and member companies again this year. Help us demon- strate the need for more ITA supported apprenticeship classes by registering and wait-listing your crews. Access to qualified labour continues to be a focus for our members and the industry overall. Finally, on behalf of RCABC, I would like to thank our members, consulting community, building owners and affiliated companies for your support in keeping quality roofing top of mind in British Columbia.
