Make sure you and your workers have the proper training, fall protection, and equipment to stay safe on the jobsite. are also responsible for ensuring the anchor manufacturer’s instructions are at the work site, understood by all workers and followed. Coordination at multiple-employer workplaces — Workers Compensation Act (WCA) section 118 — is another crucial component of the 2019 Construction HRS. WCA section 118 stipulates that: The prime contractor of a multiple-employer workplace must: (a) ensure that the activities of employers, workers and other persons at the workplace relating to occupational health and safety are coordinated, and (b) do everything that is reasonably practicable to establish and main- tain a system or process that will ensure compli- ance with this Part and the regulations in respect of the workplace. • Effective coordination at multi- employer work sites includes the following key aspects: • Adequately assessing the hazards and risks so they can be effectively controlled • Providing new and young worker orientations • Planning and looking at the sequence of work • Identifying high risk work activities • Ensuring workplace inspections are being carried out • Supervising effectively • Ensuring a written fall protection plan is available when required • Establishing safe access to a work site that ensures all workers are aware of work occurring at heights and not performing work under- neath it • Establishing safe-rescue plans in the event of a fall • Providing on-site first aid. Employers are responsible under the Regulation and WCA for ensuring the health and safety of all workers on their work site. When work is performed at heights, this responsibility includes planning, installing and maintaining effective fall protection systems for workers throughout the entire lifespan of the project, from the first framing to the finishing work.
