At the 2018 CERC Conference last September, we introduced Whova, our new conference app. The download rate for the app during the conference was over 80 per cent. This is twice the industry average! Thank you for the great feedback we received in the post-conference survey. In 2019, we have two exciting technology initiatives that we hope will provide even greater value to the CERC membership. Very soon, we will be launching the CERC Subject Matter Expert (SME) Program. The program will be 100 per cent mobile friendly, leveraging the SocialLink capabilities of Yourmembership.com. Within the framework of this program, CERC members will be able to interact in real time with other members designated as experts in their respective fields. They will be able to ask for and get advice privately or in an open forum. These SMEs will provide in-depth knowledge and experience on a wide range of topics to address day-to-day or longer-term business challenges. Given the rate and pace of change in our industry, this platform will also allow other members who have knowledge on the topic to comment, thus providing additional insight. Please look out for the Call for SMEs and sign up to become a Subject Matter Expert. Even more exciting in 2019 will be the outcome of our Compliance Research initia- tive, which saw CERC partnering with Seneca College’s School of Leadership and Human Resources and IBM’s Academic Initiative. The Academic Initiative platform will provide the Seneca research team with access to a wide range of software applications, including access to Watson to conduct literature reviews and analyze both primary and secondary data on employee global mobility compliance best practices. This research will be invaluable to CERC’s members, providing an extensive foundation upon which organizations can establish their compliance programs. The project kicked off in January and the team is off to a great start. Our world is changing, and technology is the force behind much of this change in every industry.
