It is one ofthe largest First Nations real estate developments inNorth AmericaTstn Trail, the portion of the Calgary Ring Road that crosses the Nations territory. Initially, Alberta offered us one dollar for the 1,000 acres, says Dodginghorse. They told us, This road is going to benefit you so much you should really be paying us. I was part of the negotiating team, and we just got up and walked out at that point. Eventually, the province came back with an acceptable offerincluding land as well as paymentand the Ring Road was able to proceed. Dan Van Leeuwen is Canderels managing director of development and is responsible for the ongoing development of Taza, reporting directly to the partnership board. He says the partnership is working in an exemplary way. Since the formation of the partnership, all board decisions have been unanimous and there has been no need to implement any dispute resolution measures. The partner-ship is running aligned with common goals, Van Leeuwen says. When the board is looking for a new partner to help develop the project, it issues requests for proposals (RFPs), a standard procedure. 18A CCAB PUBLICATION2022'
