b'PRESIDENTS MESSAGEbehaviours as employers and make it happen. And our industry is ripe with inspired leaders.Case-in-point: TCA is a proud patron member of the League of Champions, which is a collection of inspired leaders that target a change in corporate behaviours to effect much needed improvements in health and safety at the grassroots level, and it works. No metrics. The League of Champions brings inspired leaders together in a selfless effort to improve health and safety excellence by working collaboratively and sharing best practices. In a fiercely competitive industry like construction, these employers put the needs of the industry first, which is proof positive that behaviours can change.I am not nave enough to believe in the illusion of a magic cure. The labour crisis will not be irradicated because a handful of construction industry employers change their behaviours. It will, in my opinion, however, make a profound difference, and it does not go unnoticed by prospective employees, whether they come from our sector or not. So kudos to the industry leaders who make the effort in their own organizations, and especially those leaders who work collaboratively with their competitors for the greater good of the sector. Those of you who follow the Presidents Message know I have written at length about the growing severity of the labour crisis, where I have shared a plethora of suggestions about much needed legislative reform and incentive-based financial support for employers who help tackle the apprenticeship challenge or seek to improve productivity through investments in new technologies.
