b'MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENTD ear SIAC Members and Supporters, At our last general meeting with members, we were pleased to have Dr. Joel Moody, Ontarios Chief Prevention Officer, join us and discuss the importance of developing a safety culture and ensuring employers have the tools in place to support workers. Since its inception, the Scaffold Industry Association of Canada (SIAC) has put BY RICK MCKINLAY health and safety at the forefront of everything we do. It is critical that we continue to prioritize the health and safety of workers as we look ahead to our sectors recovery from the effects of COVID-19. In this issue of Access Canada, we are very pleased to have Bill Ferreira, Executive Director of BuildForce Canada, provide an economic overview detailing how the construction sector has largely rebounded from the pandemic while continuing to manage labour force challenges across the country. You can find this overview on page 16.On page 10, Alex Ognibene from Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP highlights the key changes in Ontarios recently passed Bill 88,Working for Workers Act, 2022, and how the bill will impact your business operations.We are also excited to have Hinton Scaffold tell us about their launch of a virtual reality construction and scaffold hazard awareness training module and how it will attract youth interested in construction trades from communities across Ontario.You can read about it on page 14.As our association works to bridge gaps and encourage partnerships cross Canada, we are also pleased to provide chapter updates from the Maritimes, British Columbia, Western Canada and Qubec on page 20.
