b'Inside the OIRCAWelcoming in the 20sBy Don Marks, Executive Director, OIRCAE ntering a new year is always exciting, but arriving at a new decade is even more thrilling. It certainly prompts one to reflect on the previous 10 years but more importantly, and perhaps more fun, is looking to the future and trying to predict what the upcoming decade will bring. Many organizations use strategic planning to guide them, and the OIRCA is no exception. We set a strategic vision for the future in 2013 and updated it in 2018. Probably the most significant event for the association this past decade was the celebration of our 50th anniversary in 2014. That significant milestone prompted us to not only celebrate the past, but also examine where we were then and where we plan to go in the future. The longevity of our existence proves that we are a viable organization to our members and, perhaps, even the greater construction industry in Ontario. Complacency is dangerous, though, and it is a condition that no organization must ever accept. That anniversary provided us with an opportunity to evoke change, and it was the strategic planning process that paved the way. Since that momentous year, we have focused on our vision and mission, recognizing that accountability is the key to our and our members success. Accountability to our clients, of course. Those who procure and specify roofing services and the building owners themselves, that is who we are accountable to. While I am not one who would typically predict or even make resolutions, I can assure the reader that our mission and vision moving through this new decade is not going to change. We continue to strive to-ward being the only source for professional ICI roofing contractors in Ontario.18ONTARIO ROOFING NEWSISSUE 4 2019/2020 THE ONLY SOURCE FOR PROFESSIONAL ICI ROOFING CONTRACTORS IN ONTARIO ORN'
