Contact our editorial board online at www.bcbec.com W elcome to our spring/summer issue of BCBEC Elements. It is an honour and a privilege to be serving the BCBEC board and our member- ship as BCBEC president. Since joining the BCBEC board as a director in 2017, I have been continuously inspired by the group of dedicated volunteers on the board, both past and present. Our volunteers work tirelessly to promote and encourage the development of the building enclosure industry, and to support BCBEC in their mandate to provide a platform for proponents of the building industry to discuss and exchange information on building envelope issues. Further, I would also like to acknowledge and thank our membership, sponsors and industry partners for their continued support in this endeavour. On the topic of inspiration, one of BCBEC’s mandates is to inspire the next generation of indi- viduals coming into the workforce by promoting the building enclosure industry and supporting building enclosure education and training. In addition to the annual student awards BCBEC provides each year, we are also currently exploring initiatives for supporting leading-edge research with local institutions that will further support the industry and the next wave of professionals beginning their journey in the industry. Amongst our many initiatives for the year, our board and volunteers have also begun planning our annual full-day conference, which is scheduled for Nov. 20, 2026, and will be hosted once again at the JW Marriott Parq hotel. Last year’s well-attended event drew great feedback from attendees, and I am very much looking forward to the exciting program that is being developed for this coming year. The annual conference is also an excellent opportunity to network, stay connected and to draw inspiration from peers, colleagues and industry professionals. This issue of Elements was put together by our Elements Committee, led by Sameer Hasham and supported by Sara Hagos, Richard Kadulski and Jeff Dye. We are excited to present another issue of interesting and engaging topics, including a feature on the Timbre and Harmony Passive House project, an investigative study on condensation risk in modern envelopes and discussion on thermal insulation in building envelopes. Thank you for joining us, I hope you enjoy this issue! Kurtis Topping, P.Eng., RRO BCBEC President JRS Engineering Message from the President BCBEC MESSAGE 6 BCBEC ELEMENTS A BCBEC PUBLICATION
