Continuing to both develop my Method Engineering in Victoria, B.C.knowledge base and learn with consultants and builders as they change their process and the way they do things will be a good challenge, and BCBEC Elements:How have your first two years in the industryits something I look forward to being part of moving forward.at Method Engineering been for you?Kody Glinsbockel: The first few years have definitely beenBE:Do you have any advice for people looking to enter the industry?enjoyable. Certainly lots to learn, especially at the beginning. ButKG: Engaging with a network of knowledgeable people has been really definitely coming out of the program that I did at BCIT, with mybeneficial for me. Going to BCBEC seminars, going to mixers and speciality of building science, was helpful and kind of gave megetting to introduce myself to knowledgeable people in the industry the basics to get my career kicked off. At Method, were a smallerhas helped and is important to be involved in. Theres a lot of well-company, so I often get to do a lot of different tasks. Id say myversed people in building science, so my big piece would be (to) just roles pretty dynamic, so I enjoy that part of it. Whether its goingget out there and meet people and ask questions.on-site to complete the reviews or being back in the office doing technical tasks, its been good.BE: How has being involved with the BCBEC helped you in your career?BE: What drew you to building science? KG: Well, the award from BCBEC was very gratifyingthats an easy KG: As soon as I studied it in school, there was an immediateone, for sure. But when I was a student at BCIT, going to the BCBEC interest and it was a natural fit. Coming from the (B.C.) interiorluncheons was useful. There were presentations and you got the where building science isnt as prolific, going to the programchance to sit down and learn something and talk with a lot of people in in Vancouver has allowed me to see the importance of buildingthe industry. They (BCBEC) are able to provide useful content on the durable enclosures and how that impacts sustainability. Theres aindustry, which is good to keep up-to-date on, too. big push now in the industry to build more energy efficient (build-ings), which is a huge part of the core values I hold.
