b'MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENTD ear SIAC Members and Supporters,At our last General Meeting, we were pleased to be joined by Brian Barron, Senior Manager of Provincial Construction Health and Safetyat the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development. Brian recognized the strong relationship SIAC has built with the Ministry and presented a detailed report on current health and safety trends and the governments next steps to improve compliance and enforcement. We are grateful for Brians continued support for our sector and the strong relationship between the SIAC and Ministry.We also have lots of exciting developments brewing that we hope you will continue to be involved with. This year, the SIAC will be releasing its revised "Codes of Safe Practice." These are common-sense rules BY RICK MCKINLAY and industry best practices designed to promote safety in the construction of scaffolding and access equipment. The new codes will provide guidance relating to Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs), mast-climbing work platforms, supported scaffolding and suspended access systems. If you would like to learn more or become involved, please email info@siac-ontario.com.We also hope to see you all at the Scaffold & Access Industry Association (SAIA) Annual Convention & Exposition in Vancouver from October 16th-20th, 2023. This year, SIAC has partnered with the SAIA and will have a tabletop display, among other exposure, at the event.
