b'SUCCESS STORYin New Brunswick to develop two mobile STEAM units for New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.[JEDI exposes] children not just to STEAM, but also to our culture as we try and blend the two through our concept of Two-Eyed Seeing (Etuaptmumk), Googoo says.Another notable initiative was the 2021 acquisition of Windhorse Farm, now known as Asitulsk, which translates to that which brings you balance. The property includes rare and ancient forests and organic permaculture gardens, an eco-friendly conference lodge, a century-old farmhouse and rustic barn, off-grid forest cabins, a wood products facility, pristine lake access and kilometres of forestwalking trails. We host organizations and educational programs from an Etuaptmumk/Two-Eyed Seeing lens using the forest as a place for healing and education, Googoo says. One of Ulnoowegs major accomplishments was a five-year partnership with the Mastercard Foundation that created the Ulnooweg EleV team, a group of young people whose goal is to help youth break down barriers resulting from colonialism and historical actions and inactions. That brought in $15 million over five years and has allowed us to really look at the needs from a youth perspective through the communities and address those needs by pro-viding the dollars needed for those projects that are devel-oped from the community and by the community, Googoo says. We are able to meet those needs and see the youth develop from that, which has led to a lot of success stories in terms of increased culture, increased exposure to lan-guage, increased opportunities in employment, increased opportunities in higher educationwe just [see] so many positives coming out of that program.Googoo says Ulnoowegs future goals are to develop a stronger relationship with the philanthropic sector inaddressing the development of entrepreneurs, toimprove the employment opportunities for Indigenouspeoples and to help develop their economy. It not only requires us to be a lender but also to develop the next generation of entrepreneurs, Googoo says. Now, there is a fourth entity: a foundation based in theUnited States. That is more in line with reclaiming our narrative that our tribal territories exist beyond national borders, Googoo says. When were looking into the Maine and Massa-chusetts areas, and when you consider the history of the Wabanaki Confederacy (which includes the Mikmaq, Maliseet, Passamaquoddy and Penobscot peoples), that also provides us with opportunities to provide partnerships and collaborate with cross-border organizations to develop future entrepreneurs.Googoo has made several visits to the United States in an effort to bring the Wabanaki Confederacy communities back together, as well as enabling kids to have that broad-er vision to get out of that mentality that we can only exist on our reserves.
