Like many organizations with a signif-icant Indigenous workforce, Ontario Power Generation (OPG) has imple-mented enhanced protection measures and developed a recovery plan with strict health and safety protocols. OPG has also expanded the funding criteria for the Indigenous Community Capacity program to support commu-nities immediate needs as a result of the pandemic, as well as post-pandemic recovery activities. Looking ahead, Ian Jacobsen, OPGs director of Indigenous relations, says the company is committed to supporting Indigenous organizations as they recover from economic slowdowns: Indigenous businesses are an important component of OPGs supply chain. Once we are able to safely restart our projects, we will continue to provide opportunities for Indigenous businesses to supply OPG with materials and services through a fair and competitive process.Through the companys Corporate Citizenship Program, OPG has made financial donations totalling over $1 million to Feed Ontario, the Regional FoodDistributionAssociationof Northwestern Ontario, Feed the Need in Durham and to other community part-ners providing emergency food support to many First Nation communities as well as other vulnerable individuals and families.
